Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson both test positive for Coronavirus. The news is confirmed by Tom Hanks himself on Twitter who also shares a snap of some medical gloves.
The pair now are set to be isolated and under current government regulations the isolation period should last 14 days for anyone who has contracted the virus.
Hanks is the first high profile movie star to have contracted the virus and it be made public. The Toy Story star is currently in Australia with his wife as he is working and filming the new Elvis Presley biopic movie. Hanks is set to play Presley’s longtime manager Colonel Tom Parker in the project.
Warner Bros the production studio producing the upcoming movie had made a statement:
“We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).
We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual. The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.
The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently receiving treatment.”
