After two months of speculation and worry on the future of Spider-Man in the MCU, it is FINALLY confirmed that they have reached a resolution. The third solo Spider-Man movie in his MCU run will be hitting theaters a little over two years after Far From Home, on July 16 2021.
In a statement, Kevin Feige stated he is, “thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold”.
This deal that has been made is for just one movie for now, possibly to add closure to that INSANE Spider-Man: Far From Home ending. But, we never know. Maybe Spidey will be in the fifth avengers movie, or elsewhere.
Tom Holland will not just be reprising his role as Peter Parker in a third MCU Spider-Man movie, but will also be reprising his role in another MCU movie down the road, potentially in phase 5. (Do we smell an Avengers 5 coming?)
The financial deals this time around is that Disney will receive 25% of the profit from the third Spider-Man movie, and will retain merchandising rights for the characters.
More news is expected to come on Spider-Man 3 including plot details over the next few months, stay tuned on Kernel and turn on post notifications! (This better not be Mysterio fooling us. But if it really is just Mysterio’s illusions again, we will let you know!)
