The Hollywood Reporter have said that Disney are hungry for more Pirates of the Caribbean. Co-writer of the first four Pirates films, Ted Elliot along with creator of hit miniseries Chernobyl Craig Mazin have been appointed to develop this new instalment of Pirates.
Whether Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow is unknown. If he doesn’t make a comeback for the new film it will be shame, but hopefully the directors realise that they cannot recast Sparrow. Johnny Depp is the one and only Captain Jack, and there would be an outrage from fans if Disney were to change this. Last year however, according to EliteReaders.net, screenwriter Stuart Beattie confirmed that Depp has been dropped as Sparrow. “I think he’s had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for“.
The film is still very early in the development stage so all anybody really knows is that a new Pirates of the Carribean film is coming, with “a vengeful oceanic antagonist of some sort”.
