Peter Sarsgaard Joins Matt Reeves’ The Batman!

2 min read

Today, another actor was revealed to be a part of Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman film by none other than Reeves himself! This afternoon, Reeves tweeted a gif of actor Peter Sarsgaard with the caption, “Oh… Hi, Peter…” with a bat emoji. This seemingly confirms that the actor is a part of the project because Reeves has done this for every other actor that has been cast, except this is the first time he has done so before a formal announcement was made.

Sarsgaard is only the latest famous face (but certainly not the last) to join the highly anticipated project. Sources at The Hollywood Reporter speculate that he could potentially play a corrupt cop named Wasserman. Another possibility is that he may tapped to play Gotham’s District Attorney, Harvey Dent, who as we all know becomes Two-Face.

Peter Sarsgaard is an extremely talented actor, having starred in films such as Boys Don’t Cry, K-19: The Widowmaker, Shattered Glass, and most recently The Sound of Silence, which you can read our very own review of here.

This actually isn’t Sarsgaard’s first foray into the the superhero film genre, let alone a film based on a DC comic book character. He previously played Hector Hammond in 2011’s unforgettable mess, Green Lantern. Ironically, he’s also married to Maggie Gyllenhaal, who played Rachel in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Not much else is known for now, and as mentioned before, the cast is sure to continue growing. In the meantime, we can only speculate who he will be and how he will be incorporated into the film.

The Batman is set to start shooting in the beginning of 2020, with a release date of June 25, 2021. While that may be a long time away, it doesn’t hurt to still add it to your watchlist.
