Robert Downey Jr. (Avengers: EndGame) has been cast in the new adaptation of DC Comics’ Sweet Tooth, which will be produced by Netflix and executive produced by Downey’s production company Team Downey.
The cast also includes Christian Convery (Beautiful Boy), Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth), Nonso Anozie (Game of Thrones), Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick), and James Brolin (the father of Josh Brolin) who wil be serving as the series narrator.
According to Collider:
“‘Sweet Tooth’, based on Jeff Lemire‘s DC creation, is a live action family-friendly fantasy drama. Gus is half-deer, half-boy. And while he’s happy at home in the forest, he must leave home to help save the outside world from a terrible, apocalyptic event. Can he join a ragtag crew of characters — some of whom are also human-animal hybrids — save the world, and figure out his identity in the process?”
Jim Mickle (In the Shadow of the Moon) and Beth Schwartz (Arrow) will be the shows co-runners and will executive produce along with Team Downey members Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, Linda Moran, Amanda Burrell, and Evan Moore.
While Downey’s last film Dolittle was not well received back in January (landing a 15% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes) we can only hope that this one will turn things around for his studio, as the famous Avenger embarks on his own path.
