To many a Batman fan, there is only one true Bat, and that would be the great Michael Keaton. Fans have been clamoring for years to see Keaton dawn the cape one more time, putting him back in the role for countless Batman Beyond fan castings, and now it looks as the wait may be coming to a rapid end.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Keaton is currently in talks to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming DC movie, The Flash, which will star Ezra Miller and be directed by Andy Muschietti (the It duology). Keaton famously starred in the role for the Tim Burton-directed Batman (1989). It was added by THR reporter Borys Kit that Keaton’s Batman could have a mentor role in the new film, similar to that of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Should a deal be reached, Keaton may replace Affleck’s Batman in the DCEU altogether. The collective Bat-fans have chills running up their spines with this news, but we most note that nothing is finalized just yet. Be sure to follow the Kernel blog for more details on this story as it develops.
The Flash is slated to begin production early next year.
