Disney’s live-action Peter Pan movie entitled Peter Pan and Wendy is moving ahead and has its eyes on a potential Tinker Bell candidate. According to The Illuminerdi, Disney has offered the role of Tinker Bell to Margot Robbie.
Robbie has become a tour de force in Hollywood staring in projects such as Wolf of Wallstreet, I Tonya, Bombshell, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and more. She is most known for her iconic take on the role of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, and most recently Birds of Prey. Coming up, Robbie plans to reprise her role of Harley in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, and star in a live-action Barbie movie from Greta Gerwig.
So far it is unknown who will direct the film, or who will round out the rest of the cast. This movie will release exclusively on Disney Plus similar to Lady and The Tramp, which could affect Robbie’s decision. Besides from her role in the Peter Rabbit movies, Robbie has taken on more adult-oriented roles, so it will be interesting to see how she does in a family movie.
At one point in time, Reese Witherspoon was set to play the character, however that never came to be. In the movie, Tinker Bell is described as Peter Pan’s partner in crime, and the voice of reason. This movie joins Lilo and Stitch, Bambi, Pinocchio, and The Little Mermaid in terms of live-action remakes in development. Mulan is the most recent, set to hit theaters in March.
