‘Joker 2’ Officially Moving Forward With Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix

2 min read

With Joker continuing to smash box office records around the world, a sequel is officially in development. Director Todd Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix are expected to return. It is also reported that Phillips will oversee a number of other DC Comics origin films from Warner Bros, however no specific characters have been mentioned.

Its no surprise that Warner Bros is eager to make a sequel as Joker has become the most profitable comic book movie ever earning the studio over 450 million in profits. It has also been reported that Todd Phillips earned around 100 million off of the film, making his return even more likely. Both Joaquin and Phillips have already expressed interest in a sequel, under the right circumstances.

However, don’t expect the Joker sequel to feature Batman, as Phillips has already debunked this rumor. As far as other DC origin films Phillips could be tackling, characters like Two-Face, Huntress, Lex Luthor, and The Question would be perfect candidates. Joker has already crossed the billion-dollar mark becoming the first R-rated movie ever to do so. Joker’s next battle seems to be awards season as fans cross their fingers that Joker will run away with some major nominations, and maybe even wins.

Are you excited to see the Joker sequel? Are you glad Phillips and Phoenix are returning? And what other DC characters would you like to see get the Joker treatment? Let us know in the comments section of our website or on Instagram & Twitter.
