Just moments ago, director Christopher McQuarrie posted an interesting photo of actress Pom Klementieff to his Instagram with the caption, “How do you say femme fatale in French #MI78.”
Without a doubt this means that the actress is the latest to join the Mission: Impossible franchise.
What’s most interesting about the tweet though is the hashtag McQuarrie uses: #MI78. We think it’s safe to assume it’s shorthand for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8.
The director previously confirmed that he’s hard at work on the next two installments of the franchise back in January – an announcement he also made via social media. But does it mean that we’ll be seeing Klementieff’s character in both films? If so, she wouldn’t be the first female to reprise her role. She’d join the likes of Michelle Monaghan and Rebecca Ferguson.
The biggest mystery though is whether the films are being worked on back to back. If McQuarrie already knows that he wants to use the character in both films, then might the story be a larger one told across two films à la Infinity War and Endgame?
If so, then we definitely choose to accept that mission.
What do you think of Klementieff being cast? Are you excited?
Tom Cruise is expected to reprise his role as the infamous Ethan Hunt, and Hayley Atwell was also confirmed to appear in the film two months ago.

Mission Impossible 7 will hit theaters on July 21st 2021. Be sure to add it to your watchlist.
